Tree-mendous Volunteers
The work of Friends of the Urban Forest would not be possible without the dedication and efforts of our tireless volunteers. Every tree we plant and care for are a direct result of volunteers like these...
The Japan Pacific Resource Network volunteers have joined FUF tree plantings several times and always bring warm smiles and great attitudes. We love their willingness to jump into the work and get to know the neighbors. Thank you JPRN volunteers! |

John is a long time FUF supporter who's efforts have made all the difference in the SOMA. Helping organize multiple tree plantings and acting as a consistent community resource for trees, John's contribution of time and energy has brought much needed green to the streets South of Market. Alex is our half-time Tree Care Intern. Alex joins us after completing his programs in Landscape Design, Landscape Contracting and Landscape Gardening at CCSF, as well as FUF's 2009 Citizen Forester Program. His knowledge of trees and tree care is invaluable. |
Sachin (pronounced “suh-chin”, as in “such an amazing guy”) is a dedicated Planting Leader, helping guide groups of new volunteers through the planting process. |

Yope has been a volunteer with FUF for many years working behind the scenes cutting cross braces to keep our plantings moving. Critical to the survival of young trees is a sturdy hardware frame to support them through their early years. Yope's work cutting thousands of cross braces has ensured that FUF trees across the entire city have the support they need to grow up big and strong. Here Yope shows a FUF staff member the rules of safety while using the table saw. |
